ABOUT CHRIS & 9TH LIMB YOGA

“I accept You as You are, because I am a yogi, and that’s what yoga means to me.” Yogi Chris

As a professional Yogi, I traveled the United States teaching special subjects on yoga therapy, yogic breathing, healthy hand balancing, and intelligent vinyasa yoga techniques. I did this because people everywhere need healing, strengthening, and empowering methods that help to heal your communication with your world.

There is no need for soft tissue pain or unconscious clenching, tension, or stress in your muscles. 9th Limb Yoga is not your basic yoga and you will not find this collection of techniques or emphasis on the science of communicating with your body all together anywhere else. Certainly my techniques are simple to copy, this is why they are inexpensive and I give away so much in over 1,000 videos online.

It’s not the what, it’s the how. How these techniques are presented is magically transformative. I have compiled many techniques into sequences and methods of therapy, posture practice, hand balancing, and breathing instruction which leads you towards powerful states of bliss, contentment, and clean and pure contemplation.

I traveled often because many of my ideal clients are dispersed across the US and even the world. I’ll come to you just like one teacher I follow, T. Krishnamacharya did. Were I to settle they would have to come find me, or I would need to manage a local career with a traveling career.

I’m young (born September 10th 1986) with world class skills and a humble social media following. I pride myself on my communication and mindset as demonstrated by my business success as relatively ‘unknown’ and my master’s and doctorate degrees which, among many things, is a certificate of my ability to persuade high level intellectuals of the efficacy and practicality of my scientific methods (hence why it’s called a PhD dissertation defense).

So, rather than starting a home-base studio first and then leaving them to travel the world I chose to take to the road first. Maybe I’ll find a city or cities in which I would set up a yoga shala, but not yet. April 2017 – April 2020 I traveled non stop, migrating week by week or month by month in some cases, depending on business, to dozens of states teaching to those who most needed what I offered.

My goal was to unite those who resonate with the communication and mindset bestowed to me by my teachers and honed by myself in my personal practices. I seek to handle greater and greater challenges with ease and poise like the true royal yogis of antiquity, to bring collective awareness upon the power of the true yogi, the true independent, the true revolutionary, and the true adherent to the dharma (life purpose). We are blessed to meet each other, let it be said that we made the most of this encounter. Om

My osteopath said my body is the best functionally that he’s ever seen, and said that whatever I’ve been doing over the last couple months…keep doing it! For the first time in a year and a half, we stretched my recheck to 6-8 weeks instead of 4. Pretty exciting stuff <3”.

“Yoga Sunday was amazing!! Somehow it always tends to match what I need, without talking to you for you to know what that is. Sometimes  I want it hard and leave me energized which this one did, sometimes I am tired and want it to calm and recharge me. I am learning the magic of yoga through you.”

CHRIS’ YOGA JOURNEY

After years of Division 1 NCAA wrestling for the University of Oklahoma he encountered yoga. Though he disliked the postures due to discomfort and pain from the years of wrestling, he had a profound experience of feeling his connective tissues in his hands open up via the down dog posture. Even still, he disliked yoga so much that he avoided it for four years. Then, years later, after completing his Master’s degree and swearing off ALL exercise and dieting (post-wrestling) he found yoga again but this time to his liking. Now it seemed to ease his mind and body after many years of toxic habits and disregard for the condition of his body.

Chris (not Yogi Chris yet…) moved to Florida to pursue an Environmental Engineering PhD. He quickly took to a very disciplined daily morning home ashtanga (a form of physical yoga) practice and veganism. His daily process still wasn’t totally conscious, instead he went with what felt right according to his gut and emotions. Office mates would often comment that they didn’t know Chris was a vegan or that he practiced yoga because he didn’t “wear it on his sleeves”. After years of solo training and self-study this soon to be Yogi began attending public workshops and immersions where he was often asked questions by other participants due to his obvious physical abilities. Soon after he began publicly teaching.

His original certifying teacher (Doug Swenson) is one of the most experienced western hatha yoga teachers and happens to be a wanderer, so Chris took to wandering to teach while holding regular classes in his hometown of Gainesville FL. At first he traveled to nearby towns or when he visited family he would contact those studios and sometimes teach there.

After several personally profound mystical experiences in his quiet home practice, mystical meaning not easily explained through western language, Chris decided that after his PhD he would pursue full time yoga teaching while he was still young and vigorous, just to see how feasible it could be. After all, given that he needed money to support himself, the best way to support his yoga practice seemed to be to teach yoga. He finished his PhD and then took a 9 week pilgrimage to India to study with David Garrigues and BNS Iyengar (the oldest living student of T. Krishnamacharya).

Since returning in April 2017 he built a national following and teaching circuit via the skills of sales and communication, which themselves Chris considers to be a kind of yoga, or union of minds. He’s continued to learn from other masters of yoga such as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Robert Boustany, Dylan Werner, Jason Nemer, and Simon Borg-Olivier. See all of Chris’ personality and philosophies in any of his 1,000+ YouTube videos and Podcasts. Om
